How I Regained My Kissing Confidence

For the longest time, I’ve been self-conscious about my breath. It’s never been particularly bad, mind you, but due to excessive coffee drinking and chronic reflux, I am forever turning my head away from my husband whenever he leans in for a smooch. As you can imagine, always being rejected didn’t make him feel that great.

A few years ago, I was introduced to probiotics to help me combat my digestive issues. As such, probiotics have been a staple of my diet for several years, and I swear by them as a way to improve health. I even use them with my kids! So when I found out there was actually an oral care probiotic that actually supports healthy gums, fresher breath and whiter teeth, I jumped at the chance to try it out.

This natural mint seemed easy to use, as it just dissolves in your mouth. I was advised to take it at bedtime for best effect, so that’s what I did. Since I’ve had plenty of experience with other types of probiotics, I was really enthusiastic and hopeful for how this would perform. Now that I’ve just about finished my first thirty days worth, I can confidently say that I recommend it highly to anyone who is self conscious about their breath AND as a gateway to better overall health!

What is it?

The product is called ProBioraPlus. It helps by flooding your mouth with naturally occurring good bacteria, fighting the bad stuff that lives inside your mouth. It helps to crowd out the bad bacteria in the gums and teeth, leading to a better balance of bacteria and helping to fight gum disease, tooth decay and less than fresh breath.

A healthy mouth impacts more than just teeth and gums – recent research indicates it can have long-term effects on overall health as well.

My Story

Let’s be honest – with four very young kids in my life, intimacy in my relationship is at an all-time low. So when my husband leans in for a kiss, I feel awful for turning away because I’m embarrassed at my own breath. Kissing is one of those things we can do anywhere at any time, and it was a big factor in me wanting to try these probiotic mints.

On the other hand, my husband has had his share of oral health issues. For the last several years, he’s been suffering from gum disease, and he’s had endless root canals and medicinal rinses to try and fix his continuous mouth infections. So while I’m embarrassed at my own breath, I’m also painfully aware that his mouth is a breeding ground for germs! It doesn’t make for the most romantic of scenarios!

On top of this, we know that oral health is linked to heart disease, diabetes and even cancer, three diseases that run very heavily in both sides of our families. My husband lost his father very young to a heart attack, and it’s important to him to maintain good heart health so he can live longer for our kids.

For the purposes of this review, I decided to have both of us give it a try for thirty days and see if we could notice any real difference. After all, we’d both really love to get back to kissing more often. If this stuff worked, we may be able to gain back some of our lost intimacy.

Our 30 Day Trial

I think the results that we found after thirty days were quite interesting to see. For my husband, we actually were able to utilize a more scientific approach because he actually had a dentist appointment just before we started taking the probiotic mints and another just this week. For full disclosure, he was taking a prescribed mouth rinse during this time, which he has used before with little success. But I wanted to be sure to mention it because the ProBioraPlus was used at the same time.

His results, though, were awesome! The dentist said he had much more improvement in his gums than he would have expected in such a short amount of time. Whereas before, my husband’s gums started bleeding profusely whenever the hygienist tried to floss him, this time he had no such issues.

I also noticed that his teeth didn’t look quite so dingy after a few weeks using ProBioraPlus. I wouldn’t claim they were sparkly white or anything, but they definitely looked better – which was super interesting to me!

As for my own results, here’s what I noticed. Firstly, and maybe most excitingly for me – I didn’t have such awful dry mouth at night! I sleep each night with a full liter of water next to me, and throughout the night I chug it down until it’s empty in the morning. After about a week taking ProBioraPlus, I noticed that I was drinking less throughout the night, which actually meant I got better sleep because I didn’t have to keep waking up to take a swig!

I also noticed that my breath wasn’t quite as awful when I woke up. I still had “morning breath,” but it was less offensive and easily remedied by my first brush of the day.

Finally, because of my coffee drinking, I do find that my teeth have yellowed a bit over the years, though I don’t think of myself as someone with terribly stained teeth. And once again, as with my husband’s results, I didn’t see amazing results in whitening. Instead, I found that my teeth seemed a bit brighter, which gave me more confidence when smiling.

Final Results

I am happy to report that about halfway through our experiment I noticed that my husband and I were kissing more often. When he would lean over to kiss me hello or goodbye, instead of presenting my cheeks, I’d actually pucker up and give him a heartfelt kiss on the mouth.

I noticed that my breath wasn’t making me self-conscious any longer. Even after my morning coffee, I didn’t feel like I tasted like old socks. Instead, I felt confident and happy to participate in face to face activities like talking, kissing and even laughing!

The Technical Stuff

Every mint contains a patented, freeze-dried blend of probiotics developed by a Harvard microbiologist and dentist and is supported by 30 years of clinical research.

Oral probiotics are live bacteria that are identical to the good bacteria found naturally inside of your mouth. They can help restore the balance of beneficial bacteria, which is often depleted by diet, stress, medication, illness or other factors.

There are no known interactions between ProBioraPlus and medications. In fact, it is wise to use ProBioraPlus during and after a course of antibiotics, which can disrupt the bacterial balance in the mouth. As with use for any medication, it is suggested that you check with your Doctor/Dentist or Pharmacist for more information.
